Ian Esplen: Offer Friday
Offer Friday - IanEsplen
Gardiner is a non-starter. If Vancouver thinks they are getting all that back for Luongo based on the situation he's in with Schneider being signed and a trade requested I'd say good luck dealing with FLA. Love Luongo, but VAN is not bargaining from a position of strength and the 10 remaining years on the contract is an albatros. |

Leafs suck. Aren't making the playoffs without Luongo. Maybe the Leafs aren't in a position of strength |

Vancouver is not dealing Burrows just to move Lu out and get Andrew Shaw.
It was Burrows for Sharp. They are both 30 goal scorers and we have an abundance of LWs and need RWs.

On a side note. Luongo is listed from Florida on the world series of poker and his brother is from Canada.... |

And TOR have only 2 players worth trading for so you want to get into a discussion of position of strength then let the talks begin. Tor are terrible trade partners because they have no talent to offer in return. |

Nothing against Sharpe, but I'd take Burrows. As far as them as player, they are pretty even, but I think Burrows is a huge part of the team and the city. I would have him as pretty well untouchable. |

I actually think the Stasny for Jbo deal would be good both ways. No way the Flames can go into the season with Backlund and Cervenka as their top 2 centers.
If Getlaf really is available:
To Edmonton - Getzlaf
To Anaheim - Gagner, Hemsky, MPS, Sutton and a 1st. |

Typical VAN fan HB response. You are absolutely correct - Luongo at this point makes no sense for Toronto, especially if you have to give other building blocks in a deal. Expending assets does not make sense to get a guy who couldn't cut it under the pressure on in a lesser Canadian hockey market.
Just remember...for all the Toronto sucks, Canucks rule propaganda thrown around here...Vancouver played 5 more games than Toronto this season. Congratulations. |

He'd get you in. He's still an excellent goalie and one of the most competitive players in the game. |

Over the last 3 years Burrows has scored about 40 points less than Sharp and was not part of the PP he did play the PK though. |

HA! Everytime the Canucks play the Leafs it's like men against boys. You can't even put the two in the same sentence.....one is not like the other..... |

I see. Point is it makes no sense to get an aging goalie for a re-building team, and if you Vancouver fans could wake up and be realistic for a moment you'd see that no one wants that contract for anything of significance. It's a fact. Luongo would be moved by now if Gillis would accept the fact that he screwed up on the cap circumventing term of the contract and just be happy unloading the 50 mil remaining. That's a fact. Sure - Leafs suck right now...that too is a fact, but doesn't mean they should gut their team for a guy that impedes the development of goalies in the system and is signed till his mid 40's. |

Sharp is a better shooter and probably just better all around offensively but I'd take burrows defensive game and intangibles and he still scores at 25-30 goal pace. |

you guys arent a rebuilding team yet. Maybe you should have when Burke took over that mess and turned it into an even bigger mess. How Seguin and Dougie Hamilton doing? They're with the Leafs right? |

The Canucks 'throw away' GMs. (The ones who brought in the talent Gillis has been successful with) |

Absolutely, Why in their right mind would Toronto trade a rookie dman that had a decent first season for a Gold Medal winning vezina candidate goaltender? Sounds even dumber when you write it down. Anyone who has watched a leafs game knows how stacked they are in net. People on here undervalue Gardiner big time, honestly the fact that someone would have the audacity to purpose such a lop sided trade discusts me. |
